The Russian Rocket

As i entered Rogers arena on saturday night, everything was different. everyone was in a good mood, even though we lost the night before. there was something similar about all the fans, everyone had a pavel bure jersey on, including myself. The russian rockets famous number 10 was going were it belonged, up in the rafter along with the other 3 canucks legends, Smyl, Linden, Naslund, now Bure.I was still to young to realize Bure was on the ice back when he played, but when Bure entered the arena, and onto the ice, I was in an awe.
The man who scored two 60 goal seasons, the man who could skate, and score like no other NHL player, the vancouver canucks 1st true superstar. Watching his historic highlights during the ceremony was a teary moment for everyone, all the great things he has done for us, all the iconic moments from his infamous first shift against the original winnipeg jets, to his series clinching goal against the calgary flames in 94 the first round of the famous stanley cup run, memories that will last a lifetime for all, they have meant everything to him, until now. canuck nation gave back to him, they gave pavel bure what he deserved, immortality.  along with the 3 other canucks legends, and every retired number of every player in the NHL, Pavel Bure gets Immortal status. as his number 10 rises to the rafters, Bure along with the 18,000 plus fans in rogers arena watch as The Russian Rocket takes its last flight, the flight to Immortality.
